Description
Myrtle Tree Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one, dating from around 1800. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and rubble stone, arranged in courses, and features a hipped double Roman tiled roof with an axial brick chimney. It is two stories tall and has a two-window south front. The entrance is through a planked door located in a central gabled stone porch with a semi-circular opening, flanked by three-light cast iron casements on either side. On the first floor, there are two additional three-light cast iron casements. The right side of the building, which faces the road, has a 20th-century casement window on the first floor.
At the rear, there is a gabled porch with a planked door and a three-light casement window to the left, along with a single casement window and a blocked doorway with a removed porch and a three-light casement to the right. The first floor at the back features one three-light cast iron casement and two 20th-century casements. Attached to the left side of the building is a lean-to outhouse with a planked door. This cottage served as an estate cottage for the Stourhead Estate.
