Description
Nos. 47 and 48 on Broad Town Road are a pair of cottages. No. 48 dates from the 17th century and is timber framed with brick infill, while No. 47 is an extension built in 1848, featuring painted brick and a stone gable. Both cottages have a half hipped thatched roof. The original building has two bays and is aligned parallel to the street, with the entrance located approximately in the center bay. The framing is rectangular with three panels high on a stone plinth, and the cottages are one storey with an attic, featuring straight corner braces to the center bay. There are late 20th century timber casement windows and doors, and it is noted that there is no significant internal stack.
