Description
Drummer Boy's Post is a 19th-century finger post located on Old Salisbury Road in Market Lavington. It is made of cast iron and features a tapered shaft set on a moulded cylindrical base. At the top, there are three wooden arms that read SALISBURY, DEVIZES, and LAVINGTON, topped with an urn finial. The post was restored around 1980. It is associated with a legend about the ghost of a drummer, which was recorded by Sir Walter Scott and mentioned by Rev R.H. Barham in Ingoldsby Legends, second series.
