Description
This is a detached cottage, largely of late 17th century origin, with an 18th century addition to the west. The cottage is constructed of rubble stone, with a thatched roof to the 17th century range and tiled roof to the 18th century addition. It has gable end stacks of stone and brick, and coped verges. The cottage is two storeys high and has four windows. A six-panelled door is positioned to the right of the 18th century range, sheltered by a gabled canopy. To the left of this door is a two-light casement window. The ground floor of the right-hand side of the 18th century range features a three-light mullioned casement with a hoodmould, alongside a two-light mullioned casement and a steel casement. The first floor of this range has two two-light wooden casement windows. A brick eyebrow dormer on the right-hand side contains two two-light mullioned casements. On the right return side, there is a two-light mullioned casement window on the first floor, and a pair of trefoiled pointed lights with a quatrefoil, possibly reset, in the attic. The rear of the cottage includes a wing to the left, which has a tile-hung gable, a glazed door, and two-light casements to the right. The interior of the cottage was not accessible during a survey in January 1986.
