Description
The barn at Harding Farm, located south-west of the farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It is timber framed and features a corrugated iron roof that replaced the original thatch around 1960. The structure consists of ten bays with an aisle to the south and includes a lean-to duck-house at the front right corner. Inside, the posts thicken towards the top and there are curved braces connecting the ties and plates. The barn has queen strut trusses with clasped purlins. There are cart entrances located at bays 3 and 8, while bays 1 and 2 were originally used for storing chaff. A late 20th-century grain store has been added to the rear, which has removed part of the aisle and some cladding.
