Description

Pewshill Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse built from rubble stone with stone tiled roofs. It has two storeys and one and a half storeys, designed in a T-plan with a projecting wing on the north front. The wing features a north end stack and gables on the east and west sides, each with two-light ovolo-moulded recessed mullion windows, along with similar ground floor windows—one three-light window on the west and one two-light window on the east, all adorned with hoodmoulds. To the right, there is a range with a ridge stack and a west end stack. The upper gable has a 12-pane sash window in a flush surround, while the ground floor features a similar 12-pane sash and a 19th-century six-panel door in a flush surround. An outbuilding is attached to the west. To the left of the main front gable is an 18th-century two-storey range, which has two upper 24-pane sash windows, a pair of 12-pane sashes on the ground floor, and a door on the left with a timber lintel and a 20th-century porch. The building has flush quoins and end wall stacks. The rear of the main range includes three hipped dormers, two ground floor two-light cyma-moulded windows, and a door. The rear of the 18th-century east range has an upper 12-pane window, a ground floor four-pane window, and a door. Inside, at the west end, there is a fine moulded Tudor-arched stone fireplace with rosette spandrels.
