Description
Pond Close Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed from rubble stone and topped with stone-tiled roofs, featuring west end and ridge stacks. The building has two and a half storeys. The south front showcases recessed ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds, including dormer gables on each side, two 2-light attic windows, three 3-light windows on the first floor with outer windows that have relieving arches, and a ground floor 4-light window with a king-mullion and relieving arch. There is also a 2-light window and a door set in an ashlar shallow porch with a hood, along with a 19th-century sixteen-pane sash window that has a dripstone, with the relieving arch of the original 4-light window still visible above.
At the west end, there is an outbuilding featuring a door on the south side, a reset 2-light window, and a hoodmould on the north side. The north side of the main range includes a prominent central curved stair tower with a stone-tiled roof that extends into a blank gable. To the left, there is a single-light window on the ground floor with a hood that is interrupted by the stair tower, and a 3-light window with a hoodmould on the first floor. To the right, there is a 20th-century door and a dormer gable with a 2-light attic window and a 3-light window on the first floor, both featuring hoodmoulds.
The house has been extended to the east with a T-plan range that is two storeys high, along with a one-storey and attic wing that runs south. This extension includes a south end stack, a door on the west side, and a 3-light mullion window with a hoodmould. Inside the main range, there are chamfered and stopped beams, and a fireplace with a timber lintel at the west end.
