Description

Laurel Cottage and Toad Hall is a house that has been divided into two homes, dating from the 18th century. It is built of ashlar stone and features a stone-tiled mansard roof, with coped gables and stacks at the end walls and ridge. The building has two storeys and an attic.

The south front includes a 20th-century dormer on the left and a flat dormer on the right, both with paired 8-pane windows. The main floor has a three-window range with a raised sill band, featuring three 12-pane sash windows on the upper floor and a 12-pane sash window on the ground floor, along with a half-glazed door and two 19th-century sashes. The entrance front has a thick glazing bar 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left and a small 8-pane sash to the right. On the ground floor, there are 19th-century plate glass sashes on either side of the half-glazed door, which is topped with a hood supported by brackets.

Each house has a late 18th-century extension. The extension on the left has a mansard roof, a coped gable, and a hipped lean-to beyond it. The extension on the right is at right angles to the main front and is similar, also featuring a mansard roof, a coped gable, and a hipped-roof lean-to. This side has a door with a hood on brackets and a paired 12-pane sash window.

Attached to the property are spearhead iron front railings with two gateways, ashlar piers, and 19th-century iron gates.
