Description
This is a late 18th-century house, constructed from ashlar stone with a stone-tiled mansard roof, coped gables, and end stacks. It is three storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window front. Two hipped dormers light the attic space. The formal front elevation features a raised plinth, a band, a moulded cornice, and a parapet, all extending around two full-height canted bays containing 8-pane, 16-pane, and 8-pane sash windows. A 12-pane sash window is located centrally on the second floor, while a 12-pane arched-head sash window with traceried detail is centrally placed on the first floor. The front doorway is a four-panel, half-glazed design within a moulded architrave and features a hood supported by brackets. The spa at Box was documented in 1786 to include a pump room and a boarding house.
