Description

Toad Cottage is one of two cottages forming a block, dating back to the 17th century. The exterior is roughcast over brick, with a thatched roof. Originally three bays, the right-hand bay now constitutes Toad Cottage and includes a rear wing. A further bay was added to the left, featuring a slightly lower roof, a garage, and storage space; this section has been extended to the rear and has weatherboarding on its gable. The house has an entrance to the left bay, leading to a half-glazed door within an open gabled porch. Windows are predominantly two- and three-light casements, with three dormers lighting the attic space. The left bay has no windows. A central chimney stack is present. Inside, the main stack serves a blocked fireplace in the central bay, which retains a spine beam with double diamond chamfer stops. The third bay on the left was likely originally a parlour. An added gable stack is also present.
