Description

The Bruce Tunnel, West Portal, is located on the Kennet and Avon Canal and was built in 1810. It is constructed of red brick with stone copings and has a concave shape. The portal features a pointed parabolic arch made of 45-centimeter brick. There is a stone plaque similar to that of the East Portal, but it does not have an inscription. On the north side of the cutting, there is a blue brick wall, while a blockwork wall on the south side was erected by the railway company and is not of special interest.
