Description
32 and 33 Maryport Street are part of the same premises as No 31 Maryport Street, located on a corner site with The Brittox. The buildings date from around 1840 and are three storeys high, constructed of painted brick. They feature a low pitch hipped slate roof with a shallow eaves band. There are two windows facing Maryport Street, three in a slightly canted bayed corner, and one facing The Brittox. All windows are recessed, sash type, without glazing bars, and have flat brick arches. The second-floor windows have block sills, while the first floor has a sill course. The ground floor includes a mid-19th century shop front with Doric pilasters, a fascia board, and a moulded cornice. There is a two-light window to Maryport Street and a single-light window to The Brittox. The entrance is located in the centre bay of the canted corner, flanked by two free-standing cast iron composite columns, with the door set back between the splayed windows. Nos 25 to 33 form a group.
