Description
31 Maryport Street is a 19th-century building designed in a Georgian style. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick, featuring chamfered rusticated stone quoins. The building has a plinth and a half hipped slate roof, along with a stepped brick eaves cornice that includes a diamond cut band. There are three windows facing Maryport Street and one on the return face to the north, where the adjacent No 32 is set back. The windows are recessed sashes without glazing bays, framed by stone architrave surrounds and block sills. On the ground floor, there is a recessed door with four moulded panels and a blocked fanlight to the left. The mid-Victorian shop front includes plate glass windows set within a frame of pilasters adorned with three broad reeds and roundels in the necking, topped by a sloping fascia with a moulded frame. Nos 29 to 33 form a group with this building.
