Description
Nos 3 and 4 Maryport Street is an 18th-century building with a front that may date back to an earlier structure. It stands three storeys tall and is faced with stucco. The upper floors are flanked by Doric pilasters on moulded bases, and the eaves are boxed and reeded. The roof has a low pitch and is covered with slate.
On the second floor, there are two sash windows with later glazing bars, which are slightly recessed in thin moulded wood frames. The first floor features two small canted wood bay windows from the 19th century, with moulded frames around the lights and no glazing bars, along with small boxed aprons that cut into the boxed cornice of the ground floor.
The ground floor is heavily rusticated, showcasing voussoirs above three segmental arched shop windows and two elliptical arched doorways. The shop windows are made of plate glass and set in moulded frames with block sills.
Nos 1 to 16 Maryport Street form a group value context.
