Description
Dodford Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a brick front, and has a stone slate roof with coped gables and end stacks. The building is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front featuring casement pairs; the outer windows replace earlier paired sash windows. A 19th-century porch, fronted with ashlar and featuring a Tudor-arched, gabled form, is centrally positioned over the front door. The building has a plinth and flush quoins. The north end wall and a north-east rear wing are of old red brick upon a rubble plinth, with a flush stone band. The end wall of the wing has an attic casement and a ground-floor casement pair with a flush keystone; the wing also features a door with a similar head and a single casement above. Flush quoins are also present on the wing. The rear wall of the wing is of rubble stone. A 19th-century north end addition is constructed of red brick with a coped gable and end stack. The south end wall of the main range is roughcast, with a roughcast south-east wing behind, featuring a coped gable and east stack. A further 19th-century red brick addition extends beyond, with a coped east gable. The interior retains an original back wall, now internal, which contains two-light, cyma-moulded recessed mullion windows. Numerous heavy beams are found in the north room and north-east wing.
