Description

CRANE STREET 1. 1594 (North Side) No 86 SU 1429 NW 3/445 II* GV 2. C19 refronting of Cl6 and earlier building. 2 storeys and attic. Painted brick upper floor and stucco ground floor. Gable to front with plain bargeboards. Superimposed rectangular bay windows to upper floors late Cl9 with framing applied to aprons. Ground floor has a moulded framed sash, no glazing bars. Recessed door of 4 moulded panels (mid C19) rectangular fanlight. Surround of stucco pilasters and moulded arch with keystone. C16 timber framed rear wing with gable to north of 3 storeys. Slightly earlier central cross range also timber framed. Fragmentary timber framing behind street front. The central cross range extends to east to No 84. The west party wall of rubble Cl3 origin. Rear north bedroom west wall has exposed mural panel painting, frieze floral interlace coloured, C13. In north gable end a king post and curved braces.

Nos 76 & 82 to 86 (even) form a group.
