Description

Nos 42 and 44 on High Street are early to mid 19th century buildings that stand three storeys tall and are constructed of red brick. They feature a low pitch gable end slate roof with a deep projecting moulded cornice that extends partly to the sides. The upper floors have three windows, which are recessed sashes; the central window has three panes, while the outer windows have four panes, all topped with flat gauged brick arches. The ground floor showcases a late 19th or early 20th century double shop front, which includes heavy pilasters, a deep fascia, and a dentil cornice. Nos 40 to 44 (even) are recognized as a group.
