Description

No 40 on High Street is a building dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring an exposed timber frame with lath plaster infilling. The front gable has a jettied attic floor. The attic includes a casement window, while the first floor features a rectangular bay window from the 18th or 19th century, complete with a coved cornice and a panelled apron. The ground floor has a plain double shop front from the 19th century. This building is part of a group with Nos 40 to 44.
