Description

Numbers 1 and 2 Canal Cottages are a pair of canal cottages built in the early to mid 19th century. They feature an ashlar-fronted rubble stone construction with a low-pitched hipped slate roof and end stacks. The cottages are two storeys high and have a four-window range of 16-pane sash windows, with four above and two below each of the two doors. There is a pennant stone plinth at the base. At the center of the rear wall, there are leaded casement windows that light the stairs of each house. These cottages are part of one of the last remaining groups of canal buildings from the former Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal.
