Description

Weighbridge House and Weighbridge is a mid-19th century structure located on the southwest side of the B4069 in Dauntsey Lock. The building is constructed of red and burnt brick in Flemish bond, featuring dressed limestone quoins. It has a hipped roof made of Welsh slate, with alternating courses of shaped slates. There is a brick lateral stack on the southwest side, with its stone shaft truncated.

The building is a small single-cell rectangular design, with a doorway on the southeast side, a fireplace on the southwest side, and a window facing the weighbridge on the northeast side. The southeast side features a central doorway with a plank door and a small rectangular overlight above it. The northeast side has a 2-light window with a stone frame, which has been blocked in brick. This window overlooks the weighbridge, which has a cast-iron platform inscribed 'BARTLETT AND SON, BRISTOL, TO WEIGH 6 TONS'. The platform is situated over a pit and is connected to a balance located within the weighbridge house, which is complete with weights. The interior room is ceiled and includes a small fireplace with a simple wooden chimneypiece.
