Weighbridge House, Guildford Square, Rothesay, Bute

Weighbridge House, located in Guildford Square, Rothesay, Bute, is a former weighing house from the later 19th century. It has a rectangular plan, is a single storey, and consists of a single bay. In the late 20th century, it was converted into a retail outlet. The building features glazed bricks with red sandstone ashlar detailing, a raised base course, bracketed timber eaves, shouldered-arch openings, and ashlar cills. There is a weighing platform on the side.

On the entrance elevation, there is a boarded timber door that is off-set to the right of centre, with a narrow window off-set to the left. The south side elevation has a tripartite window at the centre and a rectangular weighing platform at the front, which is inscribed "H Pooley & Son Ld Birmingham." The rear elevation features a narrow window off-set to the right of centre and a stepped stack to the left. The north side elevation also has a tripartite window at the centre.

The building has refurbished timber casements and sash and case windows, a graded grey slate piended roof, and foliate cast-iron brattishing. There is a square-plan coped wallhead stack to the northwest and a single circular can. Additionally, there is a rectangular iron weigh bridge set into the ground.
