Description
Acacia Cottages are semi-detached almshouses built in 1883, endowed by Mr and Mrs Fane de Salis of Teffont Manor. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features an ornamental tiled roof with ceramic ridge cresting and ashlar stacks. It is two stories high and has three windows across the front. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a transom light, set within a gabled porch that has a pointed chamfered opening. On either side of the door are three-light hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. The first floor contains three three-light mullioned windows, also with hoodmoulds and gablets. Above the central window is a shield tablet inscribed with "ERECTED / BY / W and E.FDS / 1883". The right and left returns have two-light mullioned windows with hoodmoulds leading to a rear outshut. The rear has a single-storey integral outshut with a corrugated asbestos roof. Inside, there is a shared central lobby with doors leading to separate almshouses, featuring four-panelled doors.
