Description

This is a chest tomb from the mid-18th century located in the churchyard about 18 meters south of the southeast angle of the tower of the Church of St. James in North Wraxall. It is constructed of ashlar and features two shield plaques on the south side, which are flanked by fielded strips. The north side has an oval plaque adorned with a drapery drop, carved spandrels, and fielded angle piers. The tomb also has shield end plaques, a moulded base, and a cornice with a pulvinated frieze that projects forward over the center and angles.
