Description
Cove House is a building that has been divided into two dwellings, located in Ashton Keynes. The structure dates from the early 17th century, with elements from the 18th century, early 19th century, and the 1950s. It features colourwashed roughcast walls and a 20th-century interlocking tile roof. The original part of the building, which is now No 2, was a farmhouse and underwent significant alterations in the 1950s. The main block, which is two stories high and consists of six by five bays, was likely remodeled around 1800. It has twelve-pane sash windows with concealed boxes and internal shutters. A ballroom extension was added to the rear between 1915 and 1920, along with a later 20th-century kitchen.
Inside No 1, there is some plasterwork on the spine beams that dates to around 1800 or possibly earlier. No 2 features a large central stack, and the stairwell includes an oval iron lantern that connects to the main block.
