Description

The cross at the junction with High Road in Ashton Keynes dates from the 14th or 15th century and is made of limestone. It features two worn steps that support a cube base, which has been reduced to an octagonal shape with round stops. The tapered square shaft stands approximately 2.5 meters tall to the break and has chamfered angles that are stopped before the base. The position of the cross was adjusted in the 20th century and it is set on a round stone base. This structure is also recognized as an Ancient Monument, reference Wilts 293.
