Description
This is an early 19th-century terrace located on the south side of Winchester Street, possibly incorporating parts of earlier buildings; number 32 dates to the later 18th century and was subsequently altered. The terrace comprises 13 properties, numbered 32 to 44 (even). The buildings are generally three storeys high, with stucco facades; however, numbers 32, 40, and 42 have painted brick facades. Number 32 features a moulded string course between the storeys. The roofs are low-pitched slate roofs with flat eaves, and number 32 has shaped brackets. The windows are recessed sash windows, with varying numbers of windows per property (one or two), and flush framing on numbers 32, 40, and 42. Some windows retain their original glazing bars. Number 38 has a first-floor canted bay window. All properties have plain Victorian shop fronts on the ground floor. Numbers 32 to 44 (even) form a group with numbers 18 to 26 (even) and 30 to 44 (even).
