Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of six properties, numbered 2 to 7, located on Timbrell Street. The terrace is three stories high and has a stepped arrangement of two bays each, sloping down to the south. The building is constructed of red brick with a stone plinth and stone surrounds to the windows. Much of the window glazing is modern, although Number 6 retains glazing bars and Number 2 has marginal glazing with stone mullions. The remaining windows are mostly late-glazed sashes. Numbers 2 and 3 form a pair, appearing taller with a higher ridge, although the doorways are round-headed and set lower, featuring impost and key blocks. Number 2 has a painted ground floor with a shop window. Numbers 4 and 7 retain stone surrounds to their doors, Number 7 having a six-panel door with glazed upper panels. Numbers 5 and 6 are joined with a painted ground floor and a modern shop fascia and window. The roofs are slate and cement tile, with brick chimneys; Number 6 has a corrugated iron roof. Numbers 1 to 12 (consecutively) and the street wall to the south of Number 1 form a group with numbers 14 to 16.
