Description
The Hawthorns is an early to mid-19th century, two-storey red brick house located on Timbrell Street. It features five irregularly spaced windows and has side piers. The building includes a stone plinth, a first-floor cill band, and a raised stone surround for the bracketed windows. The first-floor windows are round-headed with bracket keys and impost blocks, while the ground floor windows are eared, with the central windows paired. The windows are fitted with glazing bar sashes, and there are brackets supporting the gutter. The roof is covered with slate and has two brick chimneys on stone bases. The right gable is skewed with a coped verge and saddlestone. The front of the house facing the garden has five regular windows and features a rough vermiculated stone arch. The Hawthorns is part of a group with Nos 1 to 12 and the street wall to the south of No 1, forming a cohesive architectural ensemble with Nos 14 to 16.
