Description

Rooks Nest Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with 19th-century additions, constructed of rubble stone with slate roofs. It features coped gables and end wall stacks, along with a central ridge stack. The south front has three coped dormer gables, each containing a three-light recessed mullion window; the central window has an ovolo-moulded frame, while the outer pair are chamfered. The windows are small-paned and have sash opening lights. The ground floor has 19th-century twelve-pane sashes in plain surrounds, one with a hoodmould to the left, and one on each side of a four-panel door. The door is set within a 19th-century ashlar gabled porch with a cyma-moulded doorcase. To the right side is an ovolo-moulded single light window with a hoodmould. A rear lean-to provides access to a three-light, ovolo-moulded window above. At the east end is a two-storey 19th-century addition with an end stack, and a further two-storey range at the rear of the west end with a north end stack. This rear addition incorporates older walling.
