Description
27A and 27B on Church Street is a house and shops dated 1842. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with coursed rubble gables, brick gable stacks, and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range. The nearly symmetrical front features first- and second-floor cill bands and an eaves cornice, along with coped gables. The central entrance has a round-arched doorway with a fanlight and a six-panel door, flanked by symmetrical shop fronts that include recessed doorways, ashlar plinths, plate-glass windows, and a bracketed cornice with a blind box. The central round-arched windows all have horned plate-glass sashes with margin lights. A datestone is located at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
