Description
26A, 27, and 27A on Market Street are three shops dating from the 18th century, with an early 19th-century refronting. The buildings are constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and feature a tiled roof with a brick cross-axial stack. They are two storeys high and have a four-window range with boxed eaves. The ground floor showcases late 19th-century shop fronts that include fascias and recessed entrances, with No 26A featuring panelled pilasters. The first floor has windows with sills and rusticated wedge lintels above 16-pane sash windows, as well as skylights in the roof. At the rear, there is a gabled wing with lateral and cross-axial stacks, and some hipped dormers at the right end. Inside, Nos. 27 and 27A have exposed chamfered beams and joists.
