Group Of 6 Bathe Monuments 3 Metres East Of East End, Church Of St Mary

A group of six chest tombs is located 3 meters east of the east end of the Church of St Mary. These monuments date from the late 18th century and 19th century and are made of limestone and sandstone.

From north to south, the tombs are as follows: a. The first tomb features a moulded table and base with recessed corner balusters and an oval panel inscribed to Richard Bathe, who died in 1852, along with his family. b. The second tomb is similar and commemorates Anthony Bathe, who died in 1809, and his family. c. The third tomb has Gothic corner pilasters and a slightly hipped table, dedicated to John Brown, who died in 1860, and his family. d. The fourth tomb resembles the first but has fluted balusters and a reeded table fascia, honoring James Bathe, who died in 1798. e. The fifth tomb is similar to the first and is dedicated to John Bathe, who also died in 1798. f. The sixth tomb mirrors the third and is inscribed to William Bathe, who died in 1868, and Anthony Bathe, who died in 1856.
