Description

The Milk House is a cottage dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a thatched roof. The building originally comprised three bays and was planned as a lobby entry cottage, although it now has a boarded door on the south side. It has 19th-century timber casement windows, and a brick stack. The cottage was extended to the east with a narrower block in the 19th century, and internal partitions have been altered. The western end was likely used as a dairy in the 18th century. A datestone set in the gable reads “THOMAS CLEEGE 1656”.
