Description
The Butt Hay is a house dating from the 17th to 18th centuries. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a stone slate roof. The house is single-storey with an attic, and originally comprised three bays. A C20 porch fronts the south gable, where a door is located. Two-light leaded timber casement windows are present throughout, but the north gable features a three-light stone mullioned window with a hoodmould. There is a small bay with a lean-to roof. Dormers are visible on the upper floor. A chimney stack is located on the left side, and the roof is half-hipped on the right gable. Local accounts suggest the building was initially an extension to a church hall on the south side, although that hall has since been demolished.
