Description
Mill Cottages is a former mill and mill house dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. The mill, built in the 18th century, features chequered brick with some hammer-dressed sarsen stone and has a half-hipped old tile roof. It stands two storeys tall and has a brick modillion eaves cornice. The first floor has three segment-headed casements, while the ground floor has two. There is one modern door in an original segment-headed opening and one loft door with the top part glazed. An iron water wheel is also present.
The mill house, constructed in the early 19th century, is made of red brick and has a pitched slate roof with brick stacks. It is also two storeys high and features black header courses at the eaves cornice level, which are concentric with the voussoirs. The first floor contains two segment-headed cased sashes with glazing bars, while the ground floor has one. There is one modern door located under an original semi-circular relieving arch.
