Description

The Schneider monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 8 meters south of the southeast corner of the chancel of the Church of St. James. It dates from around 1845 and is made of pennant stone. The tomb features two oval plaques on the south side, an urn in between, and two plaques on the north side with a laurel spray between them. The ends of the tomb are shaped like lyres with an oak leaf drop. It has a moulded base and capstone, and the earliest inscription commemorates E. Schneider, who died in 1845.
