Description

The Estcourt-Cresswell enclosure is a railed tomb located in the churchyard, 7 meters north of the north aisle of the Church of the Holy Cross. It features one chest tomb and two ledger slabs. The chest tomb commemorates M.S. Estcourt-Cresswell of Pinkney Park and dates from 1823. It is made of sandstone and is adorned with floral decorations that frame central oval inscription panels on both sides, which are incised and painted black. The inscriptions are presented in italic and Roman script. The tomb has a moulded plinth and a reeded frieze on the coved slab, which has a gadrooned edge. Surrounding the enclosure are wrought iron lance railings topped with corner urns.
