Description

A mid-19th century farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, situated on the south side of Yalberton Road in Higher Yalberton. The farmhouse is built with rendered walls and has a hipped slate roof, with stacks featuring rendered shafts and platbands, the right-hand stack featuring a corbelled band. The outbuilding is constructed of local stone rubble and has a corrugated-iron roof.

The farmhouse has a double-depth plan and faces north onto the road, with an outbuilding adjoining its eastern end. The main elevation is symmetrical, with three bays and a central, enclosed, pilastered porch, topped with an entablature and moulded cornice, containing a 20th-century glazed door with side panels. There are 19th-century twelve-pane sash windows to the front. The rear elevation includes a rear porch, one 19th-century twelve-pane sash window, and three first-floor plastic sash windows likely set within original window openings. The outbuilding has eaves that project as a pentice, supported by substantial timbers. The front (road-facing) elevation has a door at the right end, indicating a blocked larger cartway entrance, and a small loading door to the left. The eastern return elevation includes a loft loading door and three windows. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
