Description

This building is a multi-purpose farm structure that includes a barn, linhay, and stables, dating from around the 1850s, likely built at the same time as the nearby Higher Yalberton Farmhouse. It is constructed from local stone rubble, with the barn and linhay featuring a roof made of very small slates, while the stable has a roof covered with Roman tiles. The layout is in an L shape, positioned behind and slightly angled to the farmhouse.

The exterior of the barn and linhay has a gabled slate roof. On the north side, there are two cylindrical piers, remnants of a third, and a solid wall section on the west side that includes a blocked window and a low opening at ground level. The right return features double doors on the ground floor and a loft door covered with corrugated iron. The lofted stable has a lower roof line and a hipped roof at the south end. The west side has two partly-blocked shouldered doorways and one loft door, with steps leading up to the loft doorway on the left return, which is sheltered by a pent roof that is partly attached to the barn. The interior has not been inspected. This is an interesting multi-purpose farm building situated close to the listed farmhouse.
