Description

Lower Yalberton Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding to the southwest are from around 1830. The farmhouse is rendered and has a concrete tile roof, with stacks featuring rendered shafts and platbands. The outbuilding is constructed from local grey limestone rubble and has a slate roof.

The farmhouse has a double-depth main block that is two rooms wide, with a garden entrance facing east and a service wing attached at the north end. The west side of the farmhouse overlooks a planned double-courtyard split-level farmyard.

The exterior of the two-storey house includes a rear cellar and a symmetrical three-bay garden front with a hipped roof and deep eaves. It features a lattice porch hood over the central front door and small-pane early 19th-century sash windows, with three on the first floor. The rear elevation appears as three storeys due to the drop in the ground, with steps leading down to the farmyard. The main block has a doorway at cellar level and three ground-floor windows: one is a 16-pane sash, another is a 2-light casement, and the third is a 4-pane fixed window. The first floor has three 12-pane early 19th-century sashes. There are steps at the front leading to the service wing, which has an entrance at the junction with the service block and small-pane casement windows. The lower-roofed block to the right has a segmental-headed archway and garage doors.

The outbuilding to the southwest is likely a cartshed, featuring two large segmental-headed doorways and two loft doors above. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
