Description
The gate piers and walls to the Breakaway Sports Centre, which was formerly the Church of Holy Trinity, were built in 1984 and are likely designed by Watson and Watson. They are constructed from local grey limestone. The churchyard walls are made of rubble and feature toothed capping. There are two sets of gate piers located to the west of the church: one set flanks a carriageway and the other flanks a pedestrian gateway, both made of limestone ashlar. The pedestrian gate piers are square in shape with chamfered caps that are decorated with trefoils. The carriageway gate piers have chamfered plinths, projecting cornices, and elaborate two-tier pyramidal freestone finials topped with crocketed pinnacles. These structures are included for their group value.
