Description

This is a terrace of three cottages located on Ranscombe Road in Lower Brixham, dating from the early 19th century, with No. 12 possibly being slightly later. The cottages have solid roughcast walls and a slated roof. No. 14 features a large old red-brick chimney on its left side wall, while No. 16 has a rebuilt red-brick chimney on its right side wall. The cottages are two storeys high, with No. 12 being the furthest downhill and having a lower roofline. Each cottage is one window wide. No. 12 has its doorway to the left of the ground-storey window, while Nos. 14 and 16 are a mirrored pair with adjacent doorways in the centre. All doorways are round-arched and have late 20th-century wooden doors. No. 14 has plain sash windows in box-frames, while No. 12 has late 20th-century plastic windows, and No. 16 features small-paned wooden casements. In front of the cottages is a pavement made of old, worn pebbles with a kerb of Devonian limestone blocks. The cottages are included for their group value.
