Description
Nos. 18 and 20, including the gate piers on the street frontage, are a pair of cottages located at right angles to Ranscombe Road in Lower Brixham. They date from the early 19th century and feature solid roughcast walls and a slated roof. A 20th-century red-brick chimney is positioned on the ridge. The cottages are two storeys high with mirrored fronts, each two windows wide, and doorways at the outer ends. No. 18 has a six-panelled door, with the two bottom panels flush, while No. 20 has a 20th-century wood glazed door. The windows are primarily six-paned sashes, although the right-hand upper-storey window of No. 18 is a small 20th-century wood casement. The gable end facing the road has one window on each storey; the ground storey features a two-light wood casement without glazing bars, and the upper storey has six-paned sashes. Additionally, there are square gate piers made of squared red sandstone blocks with flat caps of the same stone, located at the front of the building along the street.
