Description

Nos. 2 and 3 are a pair of cottages located on Bakers Hill in Higher Brixham, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They feature solid rendered walls and a slated roof, with a rendered chimney on the left end wall. The cottages are two storeys high with a garret, and each cottage has one window width with a doorway to the right. No. 2 has a late 20th-century small-paned wood-glazed door and windows, which include transom lights. No. 3 retains its original door with two flush bottom panels and a glazed upper part added in the 20th century. Both cottages have 6-paned sash windows and a small boxed eaves cornice. There are two dormers with pent roofs, featuring plain wood-framed windows. In front of the cottages, there is a small terrace with a stone rubble retaining wall that rises to form a parapet. At the left end of the terrace, there is a 19th-century iron gate with spear-head uprights that alternate in height.
