Description
Nos. 17 and 18 Newport Street is a house, now functioning as a gallery and dwelling, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It features painted brickwork and a slate roof. The building is three stories tall with two bays, extending to a further bay on the right for No. 18, and is two rooms deep. There is a carriageway through the center bay, which has a flat arch and keystone. The left gable has a stack, and there is a rear extension. The entrance includes a boarded and studded door, while No. 17 has a pair of 19th-century windows with stone lintels and two-pane sashes, along with a four-panel glazed door. No. 18 features a glazed door and a small paned bay window. A plat band runs at the floor levels, and the upper floors have 12-pane sashes with louvred shutters.
