Description

This is a terrace of seven shop units with living accommodation above, dating from approximately the 1840s to the 1860s. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with brick detailing around the window and door openings. It has slate roofs, and is three stories high, with stacks positioned on the party walls between the units. Each property has two bays. The ground floor retains shop windows and a recessed entrance in five of the properties (numbered 1, 3, 11, 13 and 15). A side entrance gives access to the upper floors. The facade features fluted pilasters and bracketed fascias. The first-floor windows are 12-pane sashes, with blind semi-circular recesses above, all connected by a moulded string course. Second-floor windows are 9-pane sashes; the original windows with glazing bars remain in numbers 3 and 13 only, while the other windows lack glazing bars. The building has moulded eaves.
