Description

This milestone, located on Hackpen Road to Marlborough, is possibly from the 18th century but likely dates to the early 19th century. It is a large, facetted stone with a dented top. The inscription, which has been painted over and is somewhat obscured, reads "To Marbr.... 6 miles. To ...... (Swindon) 5 miles." The milestone is situated near the entrance of a house named Mudgell.
