Description

Burderop Cottage and the stables to the north have late 17th century origins and were partly rebuilt in 1768, as indicated by a datestone in the west chimney stack with the initials W.C. (William Calley). The building has an 'L'-plan layout, with the east front balancing the stable block on the eastern side of the lawn or forecourt of Burderop Park. The south front is two storeys high, while the forecourt side is one and a half storeys. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof.

The east front is symmetrical, showcasing early 18th century sash windows with stone eared architrave surrounds, along with a similar surround for the doorway and brick relieving arches. There are traces of early 17th century openings. The south front is rendered and has chamfered quoins, with four windows that include renewed glazing bar sashes and a 19th century canted bay window on the ground floor. A two-storey gabled projecting entrance bay is also present.

The rear elevation retains some late 17th century stone mullioned windows with three lights and cavetto moulding. There is a lower outbuilding range to the west. The interior of the stable is notable for having five stalls, divided by ramped partitions with acorn newels, and features a coved ceiling.
