Description

Anderson's Hostel is a row of almshouses built in 1877 by W.H. Read. The building is constructed from rock-faced snecked limestone, featuring ashlar quoins and window dressings, and has a slate roof. It is a single storey with an attic and consists of four bays. The entrance is located at the rear, accessed from a passage off Cricklade Street. There are stacks positioned between the first and second bays, as well as between the fourth and fifth bays, with four flues in round-ended ashlar. The ground floor, which faces the churchyard, includes three-light cross windows and tripartite pointed lights above in flush dormers. The building is adorned with carved and braced bargeboards, and there is a mid-20th century covered way on the south side.
