Description

ST 67 NW WINTERBOURNE BECKSPOOL ROAD (west side), Frenchay 3/4 Gates and piers, railings, wall G.V. and gateway, 20 metres east of Frenchay Manor II

Forecourt railings and walls. Late C18. Rubble, cast and wrought iron. Circa 20 metres of spear-head railings with urn newels and linked intermediate lower rails, all on a plinth between pairs of narrow piers which flank matching gates; at the right (north) the wall rises to c.2 metres, 2 rusticated jambs and a capped lintel frame a diamond panelled door, the wall then sweeps back to a pair of square, rusticated piers at the entrance to the stables (q.v.).
